🚂 Stop searching everywhere! 2027 Panda Special Train Chengdu No. booking guide is here
When “slow travel” becomes a lifestyle, a mobile resort space spanning the east, west, north, and south of Xinjiang—the Panda Special Train “Chengdu No.”—is redefining the meaning of long-distance travel with a relaxed pace and immersive experiences. Unlike the fatigue of traditional group tours with frequent hotel changes and dragging luggage between rides, “Chengdu No.” adopts the classic “travel by night, sightsee by day” model—stopping at core scenic areas for in-depth exploration during the day and sleeping comfortably in private cabins while moving at night, effectively avoiding the exhaustion of long-distance travel. The entire route covers diverse landscapes and cultural regions including Turpan, Kashgar, the Pamir Plateau, Duku Highway, Ili Valley, and Altay, connecting classic scenic belts such as desert oases, snowy mountains and lakes, grassland canyons, and ancient city streets. It is especially suitable for family trips, senior travelers, or friends traveling together.
🌄 Detailed introduction to the route and destinations
“Chengdu No.” is not an ordinary train but a mobile resort space integrating transportation, accommodation, dining, and cultural experiences. The train has 18 carriages in total, 12 of which are private compartment carriages with a capacity of 108 people, operated in a small-group boutique model with a focus on service quality and privacy. The itinerary spans the east, west, north, and south of Xinjiang—from Turpan in eastern Xinjiang to Kashgar and Kuqa in southern Xinjiang, then to Ili, Altay, and Urumqi in northern Xinjiang—covering the popular tourist areas of both southern and northern Xinjiang in one trip, saving the hassle of repeatedly booking tickets and planning routes.
The itinerary coincides with the golden period when Xinjiang enjoys comfortable year-round weather, lush vegetation, and an abundance of specialty fruits. From June to September, the Duku Highway is fully open (typically recommended to be open about 4 months per year), allowing visitors to fully experience the magnificent scenery of its southern and middle sections—the red-layer rock walls of Tianshan Grand Canyon, the swan habitat wetlands of Bayanbulak, and the mountain grasslands of Nalati unfold one after another, with every snapshot looking like a masterpiece. In addition, the crystal-clear blue of Sayram Lake, the misty birch trees of Hemu Village, and the three-bay secret scenery of Kanas will also gradually unfold in the autumn-themed itinerary.
All scenic spot arrangements are based on currently publicly available scenic area opening policies and access conditions. In the event of force majeure factors such as weather, road conditions, or temporary service guidance at scenic areas, both parties may agree to make reasonable changes to the itinerary to ensure travel and experience quality as much as possible.
